"Enough is Enough"
When visiting mountain gorillas in Rwanda, you are allowed 1 hour in their presence. Apparently, we wore out our welcome and this huge silverback charged us!

"Right between the eyes!"
The Cape Buffalo is one of the most dangerous animals on the African continent, but seems to enjoy the company of an insect-eating bird!

"Not many of us left…"
This rather poignant look seems to conjure thoughts of the gorillas' bleak future. The continued survival of this magnificent species is in doubt unless strong conservations actions are taken.

"Ear-conditioners"
Elephants cool themselves by flapping their ears back and forth. The ears are filled with blood vessels which cool in the breeze and, in turn, cool their bodies.

"Vanity"
Even at a young age, Samburu girls adorn themselves with beautiful jewelry, making them one of the most colorful in Africa.

"Mother & Daughter"
The Masai culture of East Africa has lived on the savannahs for thousands of years--sharing the land with the wildlife. Even today, they shun civilization--but are friendly toward visitors!

"On Careful Watch"
Young boys learn how to become an important part of Masai society very early as they tend cattle & goats and keep predators away.

"King of Beasts"
Aptly named, adult male lions don't have a lot of responsibilities. Generally, the females do the hunting, and the male intrudes on the kill to eat his fill. Females take care of cubs while the dominant male relaxes!
